Stand-up comedy from the northeast has the rep of being pretty tough. The loud, vulgar, angry comedian from New York is a bit of stereotype but one rooted in truth: it's a scene that often respects those who proudly shock the audience, but only if they're actually funny when they do it.

Big Jay Oakerson is actually funny when he does it. The Philadelphia native has plugged away in the New York scene for years, popping up on late night shows and Louie and Inside Amy Schumer, and co-hosting the SiriusXM show The Bonfire with Dan Soder, and now he's about to celebrate his first hour-long special. Big Jay Oakerson: Live at Webster Hall premieres on Comedy Central tomorrow night, Friday 6/17, at midnight; it'll be released as an album next week, on Tuesday 6/21. You can listen to a brief clip here today, though, as Oakerson talks about his friend Dave and wonders whether true friendship can coexist with sexual tension.

Check out this clip and the special to find out why the New York Times calls Oakerson "the master of the dirty joke." And who would know more about the dirty joke than the New York Times?
