So, the next Splinter Cell may have just been accidentally (or purposely) confirmed on Twitter by Ubisoft Creative Director Julian Gerighty.
And Exhibit B:
And Exhibit C: As of just minutes ago, Gerighty changed his Twitter header and profile picture to this (though he’s since changed it back):
So, an accident? Or a savvy marketing technique? Hard to say. Our money would be on the latter if IGN weren’t reporting that an Ubisoft rep says Gerighty was only “joking,” further muddying these waters. “Julian was obviously joking as Julian likes to do. It looks like our creative directors are having fun right now. We do not have any announcements to make at this time,” the rep explained to the outlet via email.
Either way, Ubisoft’s PR associate director Stone Chin isn’t too happy, for obvious reasons:
There hasn’t been a Splinter Cell game since 2013’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and fans of the franchise have since been foaming at the mouth for news of a new installment. If this tweet turns out to hold any truth, it’s going to be an exciting E3 for Splinter Cell diehards everywhere.
