After a rocky start yesterday that witnessed headliners Radiohead taking two impromptu breaks because of sound issues, Coachella day two ran far more smoothly, sporting memorable cameos and surprises that you’d expect from a music festival hosting approximately 125,000 people. The majority of cameos occurred during rap and hip-hop sets: Drake and Migos joined Future and Tyler the Creator stepped on stage for ScHoolboy Q. Even Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers veteran Michael McDonald joined Thundercat for their slinky R&B jam “Show You the Way,” which is pretty damn cool. (We won’t lie: an additional Kenny Loggins, who also contributed to the track, would have been legendary.) Lady Gaga made history as the first female Coachella headliner and also introduced new song “The Cure,” which also debuted on streaming services concurrently. Check out Amy Harris’ photos from the day above and come back tomorrow for coverage of Coachella day 3 shenanigans with Kendrick Lamar, New Order, Lorde and more.
