The Foo Fighters have been together for a quarter of a century, and the rock band, put together by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, are going on tour in celebration of making music together for 25 years.
The bandmates are adding a sprinkle of nostalgia to the tour, hitting some of the spots they went to 25 years ago on their 1995 tour. The only difference is, instead of playing small clubs and living out of a busted-up Dodge van, the band is hitting arenas, because let’s be real, the Foo Fighters playing tiny clubs now would be straight madness.
Not only did the band get creative with the idea of doing a throwback tour, but also, before every show, the Foo Fighters are having a different kind of opening act. No, not another musician, but a sneak preview of Grohl’s new documentary What Drives Us. The film considers what motivates musicians to leave behind everything, live in a van and perfect their craft in hopes of sharing their music with the world. The film exposes the real shit that goes down when touring in a van, and features interviews from members of Metallica, The Beatles and many more.
Tickets go on sale to the public on Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. local time via the band’s website. Citi card holders will have access to a presale for The Van Tour 2020 tickets starting on Feb. 18 at 12 p.m. ET until Feb. 20 at 10 p.m. local time.
