Lollapalooza’s third day took a more relaxed, grooving tone, contrasted against Friday’s aggressive volley of sets from Run the Jewels, PUP and Blink-182. Aside from a headlining slot from Chance the Rapper that’s been described as nothings short of batshit crazy, the xx’s slow-burn, sensual melange of digital beats and sustained vocals set the tone. Glass Animals orchestrated quirky, blissful electro-pop as lead singer Dave Bayley flailed around, alt-J brought a more cerebral edge to their modern Devo-meets-folk hybrid and Banks wrapped up her tour with a grand goth-tinged dance exhibition. Sarah Hess captured the day in the gallery above, and will return tomorrow with coverage from Arcade Fire, London Grammar and more.
