Over the course of six seasons and 62 episodes, Girls became a hive of think pieces and divisive characters, with viewers dissecting series creator Lena Dunham’s every decision. Now that all is said and done, and we’ve seen the last of Hannah (Dunham), Marnie (Allison Williams), Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) and Jessa (Jemima Kirke), it’s clear that what will stand the test of time are the beautiful moments that Girls brought us each week. The series’ strength came from presenting commonplace feelings with intense realism and relatability, from post-college uncertainty to losing the friends you thought would be there forever. We might forget the outrage, arguments and conversations that Girls evoked with each new episode, but we’ll never forget the emotional resonance that was one of Girls’ foremost strengths.
In honor of the series finale of Girls, let’s take a look back at the series’ 62 greatest moments, in chronological order.
