It’s time to return to the dark world of True Detective. HBO has just released the teaser trailer for the second season of the critically acclaimed, Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated crime series, along with photos and an official premiere date of Sunday, June 21—we’re already surprisingly close to this show’s return.

The synopsis for True Detective season 2 is as follows:

The clip gives us a good look at each of the protagonists including Colin Farrell doing his best Rust Cohle impression, complete with the mustache, long hair and chain smoking, Vince Vaughn being very serious, Rachel McAdams taking charge and leading a full squad of officers, and Taylor Kitsch getting into a fight. Just about everyone is looking very moody and sleep-deprived and it’s all set to the same haunting, melancholic soundtrack we’ve come to know and love from True Detective.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto has written all eight episodes of the new season, as he did with the first season, and Justin Lin is set to direct the first two episodes, taking over for Cary Joji Fukunaga.
